These instructions would be very difficult to obey if we could not count on the mercy of God. Ever since the fall of man in the garden of Eden, evil has been standing by every human being aways ready to guide us along the way. Even after a person becomes a Christian, we still have to deal with evil every day of our lives. Evil is something that God hates, but yet God allows evil to run free on the earth and try to stop us as we try to learn to do well.
Why would God allow evil to tempt us and try to destroy us? In my effort to learn to do well, I have discovered that evil can be a tool to help us to gain strength and overcome all negative things in life. It is amazing but true. The thing that God hates most is also the thing that we can use to make us stronger. After much study in the Bible I have concluded that God wants us to fight evil and always win the victory. The Lord knows we are weak, but he instructs the weak to say, "I am strong..." We can do all things though Jesus Christ, because our strength comes from the Lord.
Once it really dawns on us that we have the King of Kings on our side and he is all we need to win these battles against evil, we can rise up as the mighty people of God, and at the end of the journey of life we will hear the Lord say, "Well done..." We will be eternally grateful for the experience of learning to do well after we have put evil out of our lives forever knowing that we always had what it takes to be an overcomer.
“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good” (Romans 12:21).
